Ray's Thoughts:
One of the most highly anticipated upcoming television shows has released the first image in this first look. God of War, based on the highly acclaimed video game, is finally coming to Amazon Prime in the future. The series starring Mandy Patinkin as Odin, Ed Skrein as Baldur and Callum Vinson looks great on paper. But will have big shoes to fill, especially Ryan Hurst who is stepping into the lead role as Kratos. He has the unenviable task of taking the torch from award winning video game performer Christopher Judge. Of course Hurst is no stranger to high profile productions, after just completing The Walking Dead. He also has the essential traits to accurately bring Kratos to live action screens. I am putting this show near the top of my anticipation list. This will be a Definite will see from me! I am looking forward to a trailer but for now this image has ramped up my excitement. Really looking forward to how God of War translates to live action. Because the game and it's plot were riveting. Hopefully Ronald D Moore will not try to re-invent the wheel here and stick to the basic story elements. - Ray Manukay
Set after the events of the Greek saga, Kratos, the former God of War, lives in the realm of Norse mythology. He must navigate a dangerous world with his son, Atreus, while trying to hide his past and control his rage.
Pros
- Ryan Hurst cast as Kratos (from Walking Dead).
- Mandy Patinkin as Odin.
- Ronald D. Moore attached as showrunner.
- Riveting plot based on the acclaimed video game.
Cons/Reservations
- Big shoes to fill after Christopher Judge's performance.
- Hopeful it sticks to the basic story elements.
